Shown are frequency domain plots of "axle-based"
contact patch load per unit hub acceleration, each over-plotted with results
obtained from a simple linear model. The functions describe how the sprung
mass is controlled by the suspension without the influence of tyres. For the
example shown, the functions suggested that the front axle (red) was underdamped,
whilst the rear axle was (a little) over-damped. Identified parameters also
suggested that the spring stiffness distribution was biased towards the front
of the vehicle.
